During Minnesota Aurora’s undefeated 12-game regular season, the dominant amateur women’s soccer team never trailed at halftime.
In the USL W League playoffs Wednesday, Aurora fell behind fellow undefeated side Indy Eleven 1-0 after 45 minutes, but Minnesota scored twice to pull out a 2-1 win in front of a record-setting announced crowd of 6,200 at TCO Stadium in Eagan.
Aurora advances to the semifinals against McLean Soccer at 5 p.m. Sunday at TCO Stadium.
Aurora goalkeeper Sarah Fuller stopped a penalty kick in the first half to keep it scoreless before Indy Eleven took the lead minutes later.
Morgan Turner of Maple Grove provided the equalizer from outside the 18-yard box in the 50th minute. Aurora’s leading scorer has now scored in four straight matches.
The game-winner came from an unlikely source: Mayu Inokawa, in her first start for Aurora, notched her first goal for the club.
