Stillwater Public School District officials are accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the school board after the resignation this month of a candidate who was elected in November.
Eva Lee, who was elected to a four-year term on the board on Nov. 8, resigned after taking a job at the district. The board officially accepted her resignation on Tuesday.
Lee, who had been a substitute teacher in the district for several years, has taken a permanent position at the St. Croix Valley Area Learning Center.
Applications are being accepted until 3 p.m. Feb. 8; interviews will be conducted on Feb. 16.
The new board member will be appointed by resolution at the school board meeting on Feb. 28 and sworn in on April 11. The appointee will serve on the board until a successor is elected by special election in November, according to district officials.
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, be eligible to vote and have been a resident of the school district for at least 30 days.
Applications are available at the Superintendent’s Office, 1875 S. Greeley St. in Stillwater, or at stillwaterschools.org.
